Good to know
The compress tool applies the quality you choose (and can output JPG or WebP); other edits re-encode at a fixed high quality (92%). HEIC and AVIF inputs come back as JPG unless you pick another output format on the compress tool.

How to add a watermark to photos

  1. Click Choose files (or drag & drop) and select one or more Image files. You can also paste an image from your clipboard.
  2. Type your watermark text, then set the position, size, color and opacity.
  3. Press Add watermark. Processing runs with a live progress indicator.
  4. Open the download page to save your files individually or grab everything as a single ZIP.

Why watermark your images?

Portfolios, product shots and proofs travel far without permission. A visible watermark keeps your name attached: type the text, pick a corner, the center or a diagonal placement, tune color and opacity, and the same stamp lands consistently on every image in the batch.

What this tool preserves — and what it changes

✓ Preserved

  • Full resolution — the stamp is painted onto an untouched copy of the image; nothing is scaled or cropped
  • A consistent look across a batch: the font size scales with each image (roughly 4.5%, 7.5% or 12% of the shorter side for small/normal/large), so the stamp carries the same weight on a phone photo and a 4K export

↺ Changed

  • The text becomes pixels — a permanent part of the image, not a layer or metadata that can be stripped off later
  • A soft contrasting shadow is added automatically — dark behind a light watermark color, light behind a dark one — so the text stays legible whatever it lands on
  • Saving runs one re-encode (92% fixed quality for JPG and WebP), and EXIF metadata is dropped in the process
  • HEIC and AVIF photos are stamped just fine but saved as JPG, because the canvas cannot encode those formats back

Known limits & edge cases

  • Text only, up to 60 characters — logo or image watermarks are not supported on this tool
  • Empty watermark text stops the run with a clear message — nothing downloads with a blank stamp
  • Diagonal placement rotates the text 30° across the center; corner placements keep a margin of about 3% of the image's shorter side

Marking your work before it travels

Photos sent as proofs, listings copied between marketplaces, drafts circulated for approval — once an image leaves your hands, a visible watermark is the simplest claim of ownership and the clearest “not final” signal. This tool stamps your text across images with full control over position, size, color and opacity, and applies the same mark to an entire batch in one run.

Effective watermarking is a balance: around 30–50% opacity, placed over meaningful content rather than empty sky, is hard to crop away yet doesn’t ruin the viewing experience. Corner marks are politer for portfolios; diagonal center marks are stronger for proofs you specifically don’t want used. Keep your unmarked originals — the watermark is baked into the output pixels, so the clean version is the one on your disk.

Frequently asked questions

Is this Watermark Image tool free?

Yes — completely free, with no sign-up, no watermarks and no daily quota. Processing happens in this browser, so the practical limit is the memory available on your device.

Can I process multiple image files at once?

Yes. Add as many files as you like — each one is processed in sequence with its own progress status, and you can download the results individually or all together as a ZIP archive.

Will editing reduce image quality?

PNG output stays lossless. JPG and WebP are re-encoded once at high quality (92% by default; the compressor lets you choose), which is visually indistinguishable for photos. Each edit works from the decoded original — there is no repeated recompression.

What format will the edited image be in?

The same format you uploaded whenever possible (JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF or BMP). HEIC and AVIF inputs come back as JPG, since browsers can read those formats but not write them — the compressor additionally lets you pick JPG or WebP output explicitly.

Where will the watermark appear?

Wherever you choose: centered, diagonal across the image, or tucked into any corner. Size, color and opacity are adjustable, and the same settings are applied to every image in the batch.
