How to edit an Excel file online

Open an Excel spreadsheet in your browser and work with formulas, charts and multiple sheets. Create a new workbook or edit an existing file with ONLYOFFICE.

Get started in three steps

  1. Sign in, then create a blank spreadsheet or open an XLSX, ODS or CSV file.
  2. Update cells, enter formulas, format tables and add charts in the spreadsheet editor.
  3. Save to server, wait for confirmation and download your workbook. Reopen a saved file from your account when you need to continue.

Frequently asked questions

Can I edit XLSX files without Excel?

Yes. The browser editor uses ONLYOFFICE to open and edit supported Excel workbooks. Review complex formulas and formatting when moving a file between spreadsheet applications.

Are CSV files the same as Excel workbooks?

No. CSV stores plain table values and does not preserve multiple sheets, charts or workbook formatting. Use XLSX when you need those features.

Does the online Excel editor run entirely on my device?

No. Office documents are stored and processed on this workspace server. Sign in to a free account to create, upload, save or share a workbook. Macro-enabled files are not supported.
