About Us

filehugger.com is a collection of free online file converters built and operated by Brothers IT Yazılım Arge ve Bilişim Hizmetleri Tic. San. Ltd. Şti., a software company based in Sakarya, Türkiye.

Why we built it

Classic converter websites all share the same frustrations: account walls, hidden limits, watermarks, and "premium speed" upsells between you and a simple file conversion. We think that model is backwards. filehugger.com puts every tool one click away — full-featured and free, with technical limits stated before you upload.

Our principles

• Fast. No paid-priority queue or "premium speed" upsell. Browser tools start immediately; server tools show their fair-use limits.
• Free. Every tool is free, with no account, subscription or watermark. Resource-heavy server tools publish file-size, duration and rate limits.
• Honest. Clear labels, no dark patterns, no fake download buttons. Ads are always marked as ads.

How the tools are built and tested

Most converters on filehugger.com run entirely in your browser, using open engines such as pdf.js, pdf-lib, qpdf and Tesseract. Office-document conversions run on our server through LibreOffice; video and audio conversions use native FFmpeg with a fixed, versioned profile, ffprobe checks before and after each job, and a complete output decode before download. Before a tool ships, we exercise it with real sample files — ordinary files, awkward edge cases and deliberately broken inputs — and when a conversion fails for a real user, the failing case becomes a test we fix against. We publish what each tool can and cannot do on its own page rather than promising universal magic.

Who builds it

filehugger.com was founded and is built by Ercan Büyükcafer, a computer engineering graduate of Sakarya University (2012) and the founder of Brothers IT Yazılım Arge ve Bilişim Hizmetleri Tic. San. Ltd. Şti.. He builds and operates the whole of it: the converters, the pages around them, the measurements and the writing.

The articles on file formats carry his name, and the numbers in them come from running these tools on real files rather than from repeating what other articles say. More about him, and everything he has written here.
