Descriptions

Three lengths, written to be pasted as they are. Please do not describe FileHugger as private or secure without the qualifier — 103 of 126 tools process the file in the browser, and the rest upload it. That distinction is the product, and losing it in a sentence turns an accurate claim into a false one.

One line18 words

FileHugger is a free online file converter with 126 tools, 103 of which run entirely in your browser.

Short59 words

FileHugger is a free file converter for images, PDFs, documents, video, audio and data. 103 of its 126 tools run inside the browser, so the file never leaves the device; the ones that need a server are named on the site. There is no account, no watermark and no paid tier, and every tool publishes what its conversion loses.

Long160 words

FileHugger is a free online file converter covering images, PDFs, office documents, e-books, subtitles, video, audio and structured data — 126 tools in all. Its distinguishing decision is where the work happens: 103 of those tools run entirely inside the visitor's browser using compiled-to-WebAssembly engines, so the file is never uploaded. The remaining tools genuinely need a server — a full office engine, a media encoder, a translation service — and the site names every one of them rather than rounding the claim. It also translates documents free in 26 languages, across 8 file types including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and EPUB, which the major competitors put behind a paid tier. There is no account to create, no watermark, and no paid plan; the site is funded by advertising. Each tool page publishes the engine it uses, the limits it enforces and what the conversion does not carry over, and a comparison page lists what competitors do that FileHugger does not.

The numbers

Current as of this build, and generated from the tool list rather than typed, so they cannot quietly go out of date.

Logo

Use the icon on a light or dark background as it is. Please do not recolour it, stretch it, add effects, or place it on a busy photograph; leave clear space around it of at least a quarter of its width.

Screenshots

Taken at 1440 pixels wide, in a browser with nothing installed and nothing configured. Reproduce them as they are, or crop them; please do not composite them into a device frame that implies a native app, because there is not one.

Writing the name

The product is FileHugger — one word, capital F and capital H, no space and no hyphen. The site is filehugger.com. In running text either is fine; in a link please use the domain.

What we would rather you did not write

  • “Fully private” or “nothing is uploaded”. 103 of 126 tools never send the file. The others do, and the site lists them. The interesting claim is the specific one.
  • “AI-powered”. The converters are compiled codecs and document engines. Translation uses a machine-translation model and OCR uses a recognition model; nothing else here is a model of any kind.
  • “Unlimited”. Browser-side tools are limited by the visitor's own machine; server-side tools cap at 50 MB with a published fair-use rate. Both numbers are on the site.
