Freeze spreadsheets into clean, printable PDFs — current values locked, formulas no longer editable. Free with clearly published fair-use limits — no sign-up, no watermarks.
How to convert Excel to PDF
- Click Choose files (or drag & drop) and select one or more Excel files. You can also paste an image from your clipboard.
- No settings needed. Your file is uploaded securely, converted by a full office engine on our server, and deleted immediately after the PDF comes back.
- Press Convert to PDF. Each file is converted with a live progress indicator.
- Open the download page to save your files individually or grab everything as a single ZIP.
Why convert Excel to PDF?
Sending a raw spreadsheet invites accidental edits and version confusion, and not everyone has spreadsheet software installed. Converting to PDF locks the current values into tidy pages anyone can open and print — the right format for invoices, quotes and reports that are done. Conversion happens on our server with a full office engine and the file is deleted right after.

What this tool preserves — and what it changes
✓ Preserved
- The numbers on display: the PDF freezes the workbook's current values into fixed, printable pages
- Workbook print settings — print areas, scaling and orientation are applied the way desktop spreadsheet software would
↺ Changed
- Formulas stop being live: the PDF holds the results, never the =SUM() behind them, so nothing can recalculate — or be edited by accident
- Wide sheets without print settings are paginated automatically by the engine; set a print area in the workbook first if you want to control the page breaks yourself
- The workbook is uploaded for conversion (HTTPS, 50 MB cap) and held in memory only on our side — it is never written to our application disk
Known limits & edge cases
- A workbook the engine cannot open — password-protected or corrupted — comes back as an error, not a broken PDF; the same message covers both cases, so remove any protection in your spreadsheet app before converting
- Server conversions are rate-limited to 30 per visitor per 10 minutes; past the cap you get an honest "wait a few minutes", not a silent queue
- Workbooks from older Excel versions (.xls) and OpenDocument .ods spreadsheets convert too — no need to resave them as .xlsx first
Engine: LibreOffice on our conversion server (Gotenberg). These statements describe the engine as shipped on 2026-10-02 — behaviour changes are recorded in the changelog.

Spreadsheets that stop moving
Send someone an .xlsx and you’ve sent them a machine: columns to resize, formulas to disturb, a print layout that depends entirely on their settings. Converting to PDF sends the result instead — a fixed, paginated document where the price list, budget or report reads the same on every screen and prints the way you intended, with no risk of an accidental edit changing a number.
A full office engine performs the conversion on our server (uploads are deleted immediately after; files up to 50 MB), honoring the workbook’s own print setup — so a minute spent in Excel beforehand pays off: set the print area, check page orientation, and repeat header rows for long tables. Wide sheets are the classic gotcha; landscape orientation or a narrower print area keeps columns from spilling across page breaks.
Frequently asked questions
Is this Excel to PDF converter free?
Yes — there is no sign-up, payment or watermark. Server-processed tools use the published file-size, duration and fair-use limits so jobs remain available to everyone; those are technical safeguards, not a paid tier.
Can I convert multiple Excel files at once?
Yes. Select or drop as many files as you like — each one is converted in sequence with its own progress status, and you can download the results individually or all together as a ZIP archive.
Is my file uploaded to a server?
Yes — this tool needs a full office engine, so your file is sent to our server over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, converted there, and deleted immediately after the PDF is delivered. It is never read for any other purpose, never shared, and never stored. Files up to 50 MB are accepted.
How are large sheets split into pages?
The office engine applies the workbook print settings (print areas, scaling, orientation) the same way desktop software would. Wide sheets without print settings are paginated automatically — for best control, set a print area in your spreadsheet before converting.
